I’ve been playing minecraft since 2010. Over half my life, and I’m not exactly young. This is the first time I’m launching a server that is open to the public, and I have a lot of opinions I’ve formed over the years about how a server should be run (as I’m sure everyone else who has played minecraft for long enough has). I’m not going to write a big long essay here, but I do want to say that I am taking the role of owner seriously. There will be no admin-spawned items, random players given op, or any other shenanigans like that. My philosophy is that I should have as little impact on the server as possible, because that’s the kind of server I would want to play on. Ideally, I’d have you think of me as just a guy behind the scenes keeping things running.

I’ll have to decide things like which mods are ok to use, when to update to a new version, little things like that. But I want the Chain World to be as close to as if you played on a vanilla world for a while, then sent the world save to someone for them to play on it for a while, then they pass it to someone else, etc. One of the main things I’m excited for about this server is that it works if there’s 1 player as well as if there’s a thousand.
